Albert is a PB Rod Bear circa 1904 , 16 inches tall ( 11 inches sitting ). He has his original large boot button eyes , but has lost his original Steiff embossed Elephant button. He has also lost his original sealing wax nose , which has been replaced by an embroidered nose, and has lost practically 90% of his mohair. Pawpads are original, but repaired . An Xray taken in 2001 shows his unique internal rod-jointing, which was used for Steiff bears only in 1904 to 1905. For a bear over a century old who has survived two world wars , Albert has lost none of his charm .
